We all have the ability to spread love to the moon and back, and to that, we say, yaaaassssss! In a country that’s a melting pot of all people, love doesn’t have to be the center of just one day, week, or month. From when loving someone of the opposite sex was so incredibly taboo or when you felt so deeply in your soul that you were born the wrong gender got you a one-way ticket to an insane asylum.Īmerica is not perfect by any means no country is, but if there’s one thing for damn sure, it’s that our country came together over the years to fight for love, and if you ask us, that’s a really beautiful thing. While we still have a long way to go, we’ve definitely come a long way from when “being gay” was a crime. It’s taken years of blood, tears, and sweat, unjust treatment, protests, and marches, as well as riots, to lead to the pivotal moment in civil rights history, transforming Pride month into the global celebration that we know and love today. You see, Pride has evolved quite a bit from a one-day event to a month-long celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. That said, it hasn’t always been this way. Gone are the days of only repping rainbows in June for Pride month - today, rocking pride apparel all year round is perfectly normal (finally), and we’re totally here for it! Besides, who wouldn’t want to dress head to toe in rainbows, tie-dye, and all things glitter from January to December?
